Position Title: Neighborhood Outreach Coordinator

Campus: SOURCE River West, 2230 W Michigan St., Indianapolis 46222

Department Information

This position is primarily responsible for identifying, building relationships

and securing neighborhood and resource partnerships in the five (5) Great

Places neighborhoods; Englewood Village, King Commons, Maple Crossing,

River West and Twin Aire for SOURCE River West Entrepreneurship Center.

Job Summary

Working in concert with the SOURCE River West Executive Director, the

incumbent will identify neighborhood conveners and supporting resource

providers in each of the five GP neighborhoods, identify community

entrepreneurship program needs and gaps, analyze and develop viable

programming solutions, and secure written agreements outlining joint service

scope and tracking mechanisms. In general, incumbent will work with the

Great Places neighborhoods to determine how SOURCE can best assist and

compliment their local entrepreneurship programming needs.

Important to this initiative will be willingness and capability to advise and

assist SOURCE to develop solutions for programming gaps, identify and

reach out to other resource providers, and develop best practices to track an

entrepreneur’s journey through the entrepreneurial program eco-system. In

addition, incumbent will work with the SOURCE Executive Director and

Operations Manager as assigned to ensure service expansion in critical areas

of need, create strategies to market and promote SOURCE and SOURCE

partner programs to the general public, resulting in robust local support.

Incumbent will help develop and support internal systems to ensure efficient

and effective delivery of these services and promotions throughout the

neighborhoods, and well as collecting client and partner success stories to

demonstrate the value of SOURCE and SOURCE partner services. Data will

also be collected on client traffic and capturing client success stories

throughout all neighborhoods to ensure SOURCE can demonstrate and

communicate its’ value in SOURCE publications and supported external

communications as part of our value statement.

Additional responsibilities include: contributing ideas to create

effective SOURCE marketing and promotions, establish and maintain

relationships with all community partners, attending and

representing SOURCE at functions, and other tasks/events as assigned within

our small team.

The successful candidate will gain a diverse array of experiences in

neighborhood relationship building, entrepreneurial business support,

identifying and meeting local needs, developing and executing

communications strategies while making valuable contacts throughout the

Indianapolis local neighborhoods and entrepreneurial support community.

Required Qualifications

• Relationship building, patience yet with perseverance

• Problem solving, good listener, adept at assessing needs

• Excellent written and spoken communications skills

• Excellent time-management and organizational skills

• Business acumen, familiar with business development process

• Computer skills including the full suite of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)

• Background in business and organizational leadership, executive management

• Ability to work independently, and with varied cultures and groups

• High tolerance for ambiguity, willing to learn and adapt to local circumstances

Preferred Qualifications

Four-year degree in business or public and environmental affairs.

Minimum 5 years of experience in business and/or community development.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

16-20 hours/week for six to nine months. There will be some required

evenings and weekends.
